My name is Jessica Barreto I am senior in high school. I am actively involved in various activities in my community, The Briarcliff Rotary Interact Community Service Club, where we go and do midnight runs, feed the homeless, shovel sidewalks and our community neighbors driveways and steps. President of Student Council in my school. As well as part of Intergenerational Change Initiative, where I am an active youth researcher who helps different systems better themselves through active youth research. As well as personal experience with different agencies. I decided to take my experience and help in the process of enhancing our system for future kids.

Why do you believe innovations in participatory democracy are important?

I believe Innovations In Participatory Democracy are important because it gives us an insight and awareness to various issues that aren’t broadcasted, as well as the opportunity to be able to learn different things from different people. That can be useful in our communities. I believe awareness and knowledge is simply a great recipe for change.

What do you hope to see at the 2018 Innovations in Participatory Democracy Conference?

I hope to see and be surrounded by people who are passionate about different changes and are willing teach and learn different methods .
